Spelt Flour Methi Paratha



  • Spelt flour 1 cup
  • Methi leaves 1/2 cup
  • Cumin seeds 1/4 tsp
  • Ajwain /Carom seeds/vaamu  pinch (optional)
  • Turmeric pinch
  • Salt
  • Plain yogurt 1/4 cup
  • Water
  • Oil 2 tbsp
  • Ghee for frying (optional)


  • In a wide vessel, take spelt flour, add turmeric, cumin seeds, ajwain, salt and mix it.
  • Add cleaned and chopped methi leaves, oil,  mix it, then add yogurt,  mix it well, then additionally add water,  make a soft dough.
  • Keep it aside for an hour.
  • Take, lemon size dough, roll and flatten it.
  • Spread some oil on paratha, fold in half and again fold in another half.
  • Dust with some wheat flour, and further roll it in a thick circle like  paratha.
  • On a hot tawa place the rolled paratha (keep the lid on for a min) optional)
  • Fry  both the sides of paratha.
  • Apply ghee on the paratha.


  • Serve with pickle or raita.
